Services are available for treatment of the following:

Speech Sound Disorders

  • Articulation Disorders: Misarticulation of one or more speech sound (e.g. sound distortions or substitutions)

  • Phonological Disorders: Rule-based errors that effect more than one sound (e.g. fronting, stopping, cluster reduction)

  • Motor-based Speech Sound Disorders: Neurologically based-difficulty coordinating speech sound movements (e.g. childhood apraxia of speech)

Language Delays & Disorders

  • Vocabulary and Semantics: Words, word meanings, and the relationships between words

  • Syntax and Morphology: Grammar, how our sentences are put together, and word endings that change the meaning of our words (e.g. past tense, plurals)

  • Language Processing: Critical thinking, making predictions, drawing inferences, understanding non-literal language

Social & Pragmatic Language Disorders

  • Problem Solving

  • Perspective Taking

  • Friendship Skills: Initiating, maintaining, and end a conversation, making comments, apologizing, recognizing friend versus non-friend behaviors

  • Non-verbal Language: Facial expression, body language

  • Social Inferencing: Understanding the meaning behind sarcasm, vocal tone, inflection, and humor

Services described above are available for children aged 3-18 years old.

For children aged birth-36 months (3 years), Volmer Speech Therapy partners with Alta California Regional Center (ACRC) to provide speech-language services. Through ACRC’s Early Start program, families can receive quality service in their natural environment and support in connecting to other beneficial resources in their local area.
